Table3 presents the age and sex standardized prevalence rates for the two cohorts , along with the prevalence rate ratios and 95% confidence intervals. After accounting for age and sex differences, people in the HIV cohort were more likely to have at least one chronic condition than those in the Ontario cohort (prevalence ratio 1.13, 95% CI 1.07 to 1.20). People with HIV had significantly higher prevalence of all chronic conditions except myocardial infarction and hypertension, which were not significantly different from the general population.
